The diagnosis is made by the physician.

First of all, the patient should come to the examination with his bladder full. He then coughs or pushes and it is observed whether he misses urine. Then the patient is asked to empty his bladder and the amount of urine remaining is measured. The obstetrician and gynecologist controls the rate of sagging in the vagina, bladder or neighboring organs. Pelvic floor muscles used when holding urine are examined. Patients fill out forms to measure how affected their daily lives are.

Causes of Urinary Incontinence in Women

Urinary incontinence typically occurs in three ways.

1. Stress Incontinence (Stress Type): It is a type of incontinence that occurs with increased abdominal internal pressure, such as pushing, coughing, straining and sneezing. The reasons are the weakening of the urination canal (urethra) and bladder base due to multiple births.

2. Urge Incontinence : It is a type of incontinence that occurs when the urinary sensation suddenly arrives and tries to reach the toilet. It is especially experienced when in contact with water (e.g. when washing dishes). This type of incontinence occurs when the bladder contractes suddenly when filling. Parkinson's can be one of the symptoms of chronic diseases, especially diabetes, mulptip sclerosis or dementia.

3. Mixing Incontinence (Karma): Refers to the coexistence of other types of incontinence.

How to Treat Urinary Incontinence in Women?

The treatment of urinary incontinence (Urinary Incontinence) in women is determined due to the underlying causes of the disease. 3 treatment methods are widely used. These are behavioral, drug treatment and surgical methods.

a. In behavioral treatments, fluid intake is restricted at night, and if the patient is obese, he loses weight. It is advisable to make changes in the lifestyle of women. Bladder training is given only by focusing on urinating at certain intervals. It is also aimed to empty the entire bladder when making toilets. In this way, reflex control is strengthened. Pelvic floor muscles are also trained by behavioral treatment method. Kegel exercises are applied.

b. Follows the drug program determined by the patient, obstetrician and gynecologist in the treatment of the drug. Acetyl choline allows the bladder to contract and is secreted by nerve cells. At this stage, this secretion is blocked to prevent incontinence of the patient. This reduces compression and increases the capacity of the bladder. Anticholinergic drugs greatly help the patient. The treatment of incontinence is carried out by using antidepressants that prevent incontinence.

c. Surgical treatments cover operations performed on the vaginal pathway. Hanger surgeries are the most preferred surgical operation. The purpose of this surgery is to prevent incontinence in stress situations, and with it, the bladder and the urinary tract outside the body are supported without creating any congestion.

Applying Botox (botilinum toxin) to bladder muscles is also among the surgical treatments. If the bladder is overactive, muscle activities are stopped with Botox. In this way, the patient benefits significantly.
